A love letter to graphite.
One might find pencils to be ubiquitous and the definition of the mundane. But are they? Made of wood, graphite, and some clay they are truly simple objects. They hide in plain sight of everyday life. This is the endeavour to put them into the spotlight and show their beauty that reveals itself upon closer inspection!
There is no comparable feeling to writing with a well-sharpened pencil on a blank piece of paper. A pencil exists to become a manifestation of your ideas and thoughts; it vanishes in the process. In that respect it is selfless. It doesn’t leak, smear, or dries out. It just works. Generations have relied on pencils to create, yet, we condemn them to collect dust at the back of our drawers.
Because I think we should embrace the pencil I started to collect my favorite pencils from all around the world to share them with you.
This is a love letter to graphite.
