You’ve asked me why I collect pencils. The answer is simple: To me they are perfect. Their perfection lies in their simplicity. A pencil doesn’t leak, run dry. fades or smears. Pencils are waterproof and still eraseable. They are perfect writing utensils. Pencils ask you one simple question: What? What do you want to write? What do you want to draw? What do you want to create?

A Pencil’s mere existence is to become the manifestation of your creativity. They are selfless. They don’t require to be taken care of. They are made of nothing else then graphite, clay, wood and a bit of glue.

I’ve discovered the more you start using them, the more you’ll notice their different characteristics. A pencil isn’t just a pencil. It’s core can be soft and dark or scratchy and light.

Think of all the amazing inventions that have been designed with a pencil, all the storys that have been written and all of the pictures that have been drawn.

I dare you to pick up a pencil and just write a few words. It is a truly haptic experience. Smell the freshly shaved wood, hear the graphite sliding over the paper. Press hard, press light. See the different linestrengths you can achieve. Isn’t it truly amazing?
